Fit Guide for hohotrade’s Dress Collection
Choose the right evening dress, wedding gown, or formal dress style for your body-type and desired look.
1. A-Line
Universally flattering, the A-line silhouette really is a girl's best friend. By gently flaring from the shoulders down, it skims curves rather than clinging to them, to create an elegant silhouette.
Is This Style for You? If you're petite A-Line adds the illusion of length; if you're tall it can add fullness, and if you've got curves you'd rather cover, the A-line does that too.
2.Ball Gown or "Pick Up"
The most traditional of all dress silhouettes, the ball gown adds curves by accentuating the waist and flowing gracefully into a full skirt. The skirt is great at hiding full hips and creating a gorgeous hourglass figure. <
Is This Style for You? A perfect choice for formal or “fairy-tale” inspired events, the ball gown style makes a wonderfully classic wedding dress. Looks great on most body types.
3. Column or Sheath
Figure-hugging column dresses come in a variety of strapless and backless styles. This modern style has become popular among brides who want a chic or beach wedding.
Is This Style for You? An elegant choice for anyone with broad shoulders or slender, athletic builds, it can also elongate a petite figure. However, if there are certain areas you'd rather not accentuate, its clingy design might not be the style for you.
4. Mermaid
Also known as the trumpet or “fit and flare”, mermaid dresses are fitted at the top and flair dramatically around the knee.
Is This Style for You? Mermaid silhouettes accentuate the bust, waist and hips giving an hourglass figure, so it is perfect for showing off your curves. A perfect choice for a glamorous celebrity-inspired wedding.
5. Empire
This empire silhouette features a bodice with a high waistline directly below the bust. The look can be either soft or flowing or more structured and classic, depending on the fabric and cut used.

6. Princess
Created with a series of vertical panels of fabric, and no obvious waist, a princess silhouette is more dramatic in appearance than the A-line, but similarly flattering.
Is This Style For You? The seams on a dress with a princess silhouette follow the contours of the body to create shape while elongating the torso. An ideal choice for anyone with a petite figure and small-waist.
7. Mini
For the super sassy bride, the increasingly popular bridal mini ends well above the knees and is perfect for showing off a pair of sexy pins.
Is This Style For You? It is best suited for informal or outdoor weddings and is especially appropriate for summer beach weddings. Equally flattering for taller brides with long legs or shorter brides who want to appear taller on their special day.
8. Knee-length
Another great look for a casual bride, this gown’s hem ends just below the knee.
Is This Style For You? Many petite or curvy brides choose this style for both elegance and comfort. Best for cocktail wedding receptions or weddings during warmer months.
9. Tea-length
Tea-length dresses feature a hem that falls anywhere between the bottom of the knee and the bottom of the calf, creating an elegant yet casual style. Popular in the 1950s, this style is a good choice for those who want to add a vintage touch to their wedding ensemble.

10. Ankle-length
The ankle-length gown is hemmed right at the ankles, thereby showing off your feet and shoes. The skirt can be either full or fitting.
Is This Style For You? Great for brides who want to present themselves as smart, stylish and modern. Because this skirt’s hem does not touch the ground, it is also highly sought after for outdoor weddings or for the bride who just doesn’t want guests stepping on her dress!
11. Floor-length
Just slightly longer than the ankle-length wedding dress, this style’s skirt is not meant to drag on the floor but rather float just inches above it. Some floor-length dresses come with detailing along the hem to accentuate the style.
Is This Style For You? Rather than having your shoes and feet covered by your gown, having them visible can often ‘balance out’ your wedding ensemble. Why not add another color to your wedding ensemble, for example red, and wear a pair of shoes in that color? 12. Sweep Train
Sweep Train gowns are for brides who wish to incorporate the traditional train feature but do not want to be troubled by a long train. Trains on Sweep Train gowns barely touch the floor.

13. Court Train
Extending about 3 feet from the ankles, the Court Train is longer than the Sweep Train and can be worn at most ceremonies – formal, semi-formal or casual.
Is This Style For You? Extremely elegant, the Court Train style is appropriate for those who plan to have only one train carrier or a train light enough for their flower girl to hold.
14. Chapel Train
The Chapel Train is the most popular of all train lengths. It flows approximately three to five feet behind the gown. A bride wearing the Chapel Train style makes a bold statement saying “I feel beautiful and special! This is MY day!”
Is This Style For You? A stunning choice for all figure types, the Chapel Train sets the brides as the centerpiece of a formal wedding.
15. Cathedral Train
Cathedral Train dresses features a cascading train for formal weddings. It extends from six to eight feet behind the gown. Also known as a Monarch Train.”
Is This Style For You? This style is the perfect formal wedding gown and will surely attract the attention of guests at church or your reception.
16. Royal Train
As the name suggests, this style was traditionally reserved for royalty. The train on this style is the longest and most formal of all styles with a train. The grand gown Princess Diana wore at her wedding to Prince Charles was of this style.
Is This Style For You? If you truly want to feel special and like a real-life princess, this could be your ideal choice. Be sure to assign a few designated train carriers on your special day!
17. Watteau Train
A single panel of fabric attached to the top of your dress at the shoulders or upper back and flowing down to the floor is the defining characteristic of a Watteau Train gown. Veils can vary in length.
Is This Style For You? As the train begins at the bride’s upper back, this style allows the bride to look elegant from behind. Also appropriate for ladies who would like to hold their own trains.
18. Asymmetrical
Asymmetrical gowns have different tailoring features on one side of the gown compared to the other. A popular asymmetrical design is to have a gown’s hem shorter at the front than the back. This style allows the bride to look different from various angles.
Is This Style For You? Suitable for brides who want to combine the casual look of a shorter dress combined with the elegance of a longer hem at the back.

Measuring Guide
The below is just a guide. We recommend that whenever possible you get a qualified seamstress to measure your dress size. Always get someone else to make the measurements for you: measuring yourself will give inaccurate numbers and could lead to disappointment. Measure with undergarments similar to those you will wear with your dress; do not measure over other clothing.
For Standard Dresses
Bust
Not your bra size! Take the tape around your back and bring it across the fullest part of your bust. Your arms should be relaxed, down at your sides. You must wear a bra when taking this measurement.Waist
This is the smallest part of your waist. Typically it`s an inch or so above your belly button. Also known as the natural waistline.Hips
This is the widest part of your hips, across the hipbone. Measurement is taken approximately 7 inches below the natural waistline. This measurement is not needed for full gowns.Hollow to Floor
This is the length from your hollow ( the hollow just under your neck ) to your heels. (Take the tape from your front, with bare foot ). You should stand upright and your feet should keep together.For Maternity Dresses

Measure around the highest part of your chest directly under the arms.Your arms should be relaxed, down at your sides.Bust

Shipping Information for Tailor-Made Dresses
Whether you choose a standard size or give us your custom measurements, all our dresses suits are personally tailored for you from scratch. Because of this, shipping time and our return policy are different for these special items.
Shipping Time
Total Shipping Time is based on the time it will take to tailor your dresses + the time taken for the finished dress to be shipped to you.
Formal Dresses
It will take 7-9 working days to tailor your dresses by professional dressmaker. It will then take about 3-8 working days for the package travel from our facilities to your destination, the exact shipping time is based on the shipping company (UPS, DHL, TNT ,etc) standard.
Wedding Dresses
It will take 13-15 working days to tailor your dresses by professional dressmaker. Also it will take about 3-8 working days for the package travel from our facilities to your destination, the exact shipping time is based on the shipping company (UPS, DHL, TNT ,etc) standard.
Chinese Dresses
Our standard Chinese Dresses take 6 - 8 working days for our professional tailors to make. Our special Hand-Embroidered Chinese Dresses take 20-22 working days for our professional tailors to make. All Chinese dresses take a further 3-8 working days to ship from us to you. Exact shipping times are based on the shipping company (e.g. UPS, DHL, TNT) standard.
Return Policy
Order Cancellations
We understand that ordering a dress for your special occasion is an important undertaking, and our cancellation policy was created with this in mind. However, it is important to note that our dresses are made to order, and once the creation process has begun the materials cannot be reused. The good news is that after placing your order, there is still time to make up your mind. Please refer to our cancellation policy below for details.
Our Cancellation Policy:- Orders canceled within 24 hours of payment confirmation* will be eligible for a full refund.
- Orders canceled 1-3 days after payment confirmation will be eligible for a partial refund consisting of the full shipping cost and 50% of the product purchase price.
- Orders canceled after 3 days of payment confirmation will be eligible for a partial refund consisting of the full shipping cost.
- Once your order has been shipped, it can no longer be cancelled.
If you would like to cancel your order.
*When you receive an email from hohotrade.com titled “Payment Confirmation for Order#_______ with hohotrade.com”, your payment has been confirmed.
Returning For Replacement Or Refund
Your satisfaction is of utmost importance to us. Upon the arrival of your package, we encourage you to check and make sure that the dress has been made to your order specifications. Try on your dress as soon as possible without removing the tags, altering, or washing the dress.
If you are unhappy with your purchase and need to return an item back to hohotrade.com for any reason, please follow the steps below:
1) Contact Customer Service within 30 days of receiving your package.
2) Once your request has been processed by Customer Service, they will provide you with a Product Return Form that must be filled in and included with your return.
3) Send your items to us as soon as possible once Customer Service has provided the form. Include the completed Product Return Form with your return.
Defective, Damaged or Mis-shipped Items
You are eligible for a refund of the full purchase price plus shipping costs for defective, damaged or mis-shipped items. If you believe your items were damaged during delivery, you must first obtain "Proof of Damage" documentation from your delivery carrier.
Sizing or Fitting Issues
As all of our dresses are hand-sewn and custom tailored, the finished gown may vary by approximately one (1) inch in either direction of the specified measurements. To ensure that your dress will still fit you perfectly, our tailors have created all our dresses with additional fabric in the seams to allow minor size modifications to be made easily.
Dress is not the size you ordered
Should your dress size differ from the specifications of your order by more than one inch, feel free to choose from the following options:
You are encouraged to find a local tailor to make adjustments. In this case, we will reimburse you tailoring costs. If you choose this option, please remember to request a receipt from your tailor as a copy of it must be provided when requesting reimbursement.
- You may use our modification service free of charge, feel free to contact our customer service to help you, to see if cost of return shipping is possible.
- You may return the dress to us, and we will give you compensation,please contact our customer service to prcess.
Dress is the size you ordered but does not fit
If the dress does not fit properly, but was made according to the specifications included in your order, please choose from the following options:
- You may go to a local tailor to have the dress resized (at your own cost).
- You may use our modification service to resize your dress. Contact us for a quote based on the complexity of the dress and the amount that needs to be altered.
Please be aware that if your order specifications differ too greatly from the final sizing request, resizing may not be possible.
Color Mismatch
The settings of your computer screen may alter the color of the pictures shown on hohotrade.com. Slight color mismatches between the color of your dress and the color shown on screen may not mean that the dress is defective or mis-shipped. However, if you are confident that you have received the item in a wrong color, please contact Customer Service to see if a return or refund is possible.

while my dress DID take quite a while to arrive, when it did, i fell in love with it! I wore it to my prom and got soo many compliments on it. I did need to have it altered a bit. the train was quite long but the seamstress added a small button to the back so it could be busseled because the train was too gorgeous to remove completely! the bead work was very nice as well. I bought this dress in sky blue for my husband Marine Corp Ball. I'm 5'3'' with a 35 1/2 inch bust 26 inch waist and 36 inch hip. The only issue I had was cheap looking sleeves which seems to be the most thing people complain about. I also had an issue with it being to long by about 6 inches. I tried on 4 inch heels and I was still stepping on it so I got it altered which costed another 40 bucks since it is chiffon. The color matched perfectly to the swatchs. I was thinking it would be a little dark so I bought the sky blue, but I wish I had bought in darker blue now because it made me look even more pale than I am which made me self conscious, but other than that I'd say it was a great experience. The shipping was pretty quick after it was shipped. It took a total of about 3 weeks to get it and 5 or 6 days to get it in the mail after I received the "it shipped" notice. I bought this dress for my wedding in April. It arrived in under a month which I thought was very good. I did'nt get a dressmaker to fit me, I did it myself, but I believe it to be very accurate as I measured myself about 6 times to be sure! Unfortunatly when the dress arrived it was about 2 sizes too big for me. That is quite a big difference so I don't know how it went wrong. But better too big than too small I say! When buying the dress I asked one of the online sales reps what colour the sash was on the dress pictured and was told pink. However the pink was a sickly lolly pink which didn't match the ivory of the dress. I really wanted a vintage dusky pink colour so I bought the fabric colour I wanted and set out to find a dress maker. It was hard to find a dressmaker that would do a good job for a good price but in the end I found a clothing alterations shop who was awesome. I had 3 fitings and had the dress resized to fit me perfectly and also made some changes to the design for $300 NZ. So all up I paid $700 NZ for the dress, which I was extremely happy with for a dress I will only wear once! The changes to the style that we made were: -Attaching a hook under the zip where the train could be hooked up when I was dancing etc. (I highly recomend this as it looked realy lovely up aswell as down) -Making the train slightly shorter at the sides as it didnt sit particulary well when hooked up -Made the dress tighter at the thigh all the way down to the knee so it fish tailed more as I didn't like the A-Frame style -Replaced the sash for a different colour and made it tie up at the back -added in bra inserts so that I didn't have to wear a bra You could tell the fabrics were not high quality but only by looking up very close and the beading on this dress is quite lovely Buying this dress online was a real risk but one I am happy I took. It can be stressful when you can't try a dress on before you buy it but I think if you don't hold high expectations that the dress will be perfect when it arrives and order it early so you have enough time to fix it up then it is worth your while, especially if you don't want to pay the big money for a dress in a shop. There was one part of the dress that I need to get fix, part of the dress was overlapping the flowers on bottom, but it's nothing big. In my opinion, the dress needs a mermaid petticoat. In the picture that I attached I put a regular petticoat under the wedding dress, that's why it looks so big. I custom ordered this dress in ivory and it took just over 2 weeks to arrive....I live in Oregon....The only thing I didn't care for was the straps they just looked cheap on such a beautiful dress. I took a pair of scissors and carefully cut them off. As soon as I did that we all thought wow! Fit perfectly. Married August 7th 2010 in Vegas. the bride ordered us GOLD color. when i saw the dress for the first time, I thought the color looks a greenish. It was not love at the first sight. It has self padded bra and the workmanship was pretty good. I got a size 4, and the waist and bust fits a little tight for me, but it’s all good because it made me correct my posture. The other petite bridesmaid in the photo ordered a size 2, she think it’s a little big, but it’s not her fault because size 2 is the smallest size they have. if you have curvy or bigger chest, I would recommend to order a size up. My wedding was on July 2 in my backyard. I wanted something comfortable but elegant. This dress was absolutely perfect!. The material and the actual make of it are stunning. My mother said that you could probably wear it inside out. I sent in my measurements, and it fit like a glove. Hey people, I uploaded pictures of the dress. It is a european size 36 and fits perfectly. Material is rather tulle than organza, but is nicely fluffy and layery. I ordered the dress in black and I would highly recommend black to anyone interested in this dress. The blue and the lavender for alternating colors in the bridal party. Here are a couple of pictures. Amazing dress! This dress completely exceeded my expectations. The embroidery is phenominal. The dress is covered in intricate detailing. The pictures do not do it justice. All the embroidery around the midsection is completely emersed in bead work. It comes with a very nice breathable garment bag as well. I did the exact size and it is a perfect fit. Im a larger woman, about a size 14-16 normally. The dress is amazing regardless of size. I haven't figured out how to tie the train up for the reception yet, but i'm sure i will think of something. so i ordered my dress and it took a total of TWO MONTHS to be made and shipped to me. luckily it made its way to my doorstep a month before prom! i ordered the dress in grape and put in my custom measurements (which were NOT my measurements because i had to get A LOT of work done to the dress!). when i opened the package, i took out the dress and saw that it had a TWO FOOT LONG TRAIN. the waist of the dress was too small and i had to get the train cut off and a gusset put in on both sides and the zipper changed. after two weeks of work and $150 spent, the dress was perfect! before you buy, READ THE REVIEWS! hopefully you won't be in the same situation as i was! I wore this dress for my wedding 3 months ago. I loved it, I was so impressed with the quality as soon as I received it! Only thing I didnt take into account was the fact that because its shipped and packed into a box, it was creasy when I took it out of the box however once I had it steamed it looked stunning. Only other thing I would change is getting it made to size instead of the standard size that I chose because it was a little bit to long for me, but you hardly noticed at the wedding. The quality of the stiching and material of the dress is great, the boning is in all the right places, the details and sequins on the front are gorgeous. At first I was hesitant to buying a wedding dress online and from another country plus I hadn't heard anything about this website but after reading other reviews on the site I saw that people had good luck, so for under $300 I went for it and I am SOOOO glad I did! White, simple, timeless - utterly beautiful :) The dress and the veil I have ordered came in a middle sized box printed inside with flowers and a pink zipper cover for it. Everything was nicely packed. As for the quality, a whole dress is well made. I still can't believe for such a little price! I chose size 2 since my measurements are exact and the padded bodice is tight, especially underneath the arms (not too tight though). I'm eloping to Las Vegas to get married. I needed a simple knee length white dress. I was reluctant to buy online for all the obvious reasons. I spent two months trying to find a dress. So, on May 11th, I decided to order it. I had a back-up dress just in case. I got my dress today. It's perfect. It fits like a glove. It's top quality workmanship. The neckline shows that is kinda heart shaped, but it's not, it goes straight across. That is not a problem it is still beautiful. The belt is not attached and there are no loops, but i'm glad because it looks better without a belt. I am so very pleased with my purchase. The sizing is true. I wear a 16W dress and that is what i ordered. It is not flattering to my figure but i don't have a flattering figure LOL. I have pics. My 6yr old Grandson took them so please excuse. My boyfriend and I are eloping to Florida in October for a beach wedding and I fell in love with this dress....and didn't read the million awful reviews out there until AFTER I had ordered it, so I was extremely nervous about it. I got it today and I have to say, I am VERY impressed with my $99 dress, as were my parents and older brother. It is built so sturdy, with lots of under layering and boning on the corset, not to mention a built in bra which is incredibly important for bigger chested ladies like myself in a strapless. It did take a while to arrive (5 weeks) so I was really worried that it wouldn't arrive in time but the shipping was amazingly fast. I bought one dress as a test for my bridesmaid, with the idea of buying the rest of the dresses if the first one worked out. I was SO thrilled when I saw the pictures of my sister wearing the dress and looking stunning! The boning, ruffles, zipper seams, were all perfect! Since she ordered a standard size, it was slightly tight around the middle, so she will just get it altered a little around the waist. Still, it is a small fee to get it altered compared to the full value of the dress. It's made of heavy, beautifully smooth satin fabric, and she is thinking of altering it more after the wedding to turn it into a cute little cocktail dress. It is also really long in the skirt - because my sister is pretty short - but getting it shortened is tons easier than getting it lengthened! Another thing - some people would think chocolate brown an odd color for a bridesmaid dress, but I LOVE chocolate brown, and it's one of the colors for my wedding - and though I'm biased - I think it looks absolutely beautiful! Everything was just as requested (colour, material, shape, style, size). I know many people are afraid of buying their wedding dress from a webshop (and from China) but it's so simple and fun. You measure parts of your body following the simple guidelines of hohotrade and they produce a custom made dress for you - it's not that you must fit into a dress pre-made following a general sizechart. We made the order from Hungary (not close to China, indeed :), and shipping was fine (with DHL) - it takes a good while for the package to be shipped if you want a tailor made dress as we did but if you count with the maximum number of days promised/estimated by hohotrade, you'll be on time for sure. The only difference in the parameters of the dress here and in real life was its weight. The whole box (which included this dress + a pair of shoes for the dress) was pretty small and weighed not more than 0.5 kg (!). And even better, the dress was not creased at all due to its material. I was so nervous buying dresses from so far away but the dresses here in the UK are all made in China and shipped to bridal shops anyway so I decided to cut out the middle man. I am more than glad I did. Firstly, the fact that - for the small extra charge you can have dresses made to measure - means a saving of at least £40-£60 per dress if it had to be altered here in the UK. I had all 3 of my adult bridesmaids dresses made and they are a beautiful fit. Just the quality you would get in any bridal shop. Supported bust and lining. My size 14 and 18 bridesmaids are both very happy with the fit. I had to change my 3rd bridesmaid and so had to take the 3rd dress to be altered for the new bridesmaid. The bridal shop alteration has only cost me £40 as the dress has been made in such a way that it was a simple job to do. The alteration lady even commented on the quality of the dress. If you are worried about the measurements just stick to the website's measurement advice. My bridesmaids are wearing kitten heeled shoes but I think if they were going to wear high heels they would have needed a little extra length. I ordered Burgundy all 3 in completely different sizes and they are absolutely gorgeous. I am so happy with them. Plus even with the chinese new year holiday (their only one all year) I received them with fully trackable DHL courier in very good time. I emailed customer service so many times to check on them and they were always polite, helpful and quick to reply. I wish UK companies were so good in customer service in all honesty! I __loved__ the dress. Granted, it was a bit difficult to avoid having people step on the train but thats not a large issue. I ordered this in a custom size and I am sooooooooooo impressed by the quality and the way it fits! It is absolutely beautiful... wonderful fabric, the grape color is beautiful and it was super fast shipping to California. I will definitely recommend Light In the Box to all my friends. I bought this for my sister-in law's wedding in Dark Navy--received it super quickly (less than 2 weeks) and am really happy with it. I am VERY very picky and usually would only buy a designer dress- but totally fell in love with this. Quality was amazing--tons of layers, excellent fabric, perfect color match, measurements exactly as listed. I paired it with a gold belt and sewed in some Carolina Herrera cotton tulle in the back opening for some modesty. It was VERY long- I'm 5'6 and I kept tripping over it--should have altered the length-- but it looked very cool because it swept the floor. Will definitely buy from LIB again. Hi, I ordered this dress in a medium size. The dress arrived yesterday and took 11 days to arrive to Australia. It looks just amazing! The dress looks the same as in the picture. I ordered a size too big so it's a little big, but only by a cm or so. It's quite long so I am going to have it hemed but that is usual with all dresses, and the straps are a little long so I am also going to have them taken up slightly. However that is all pretty normal stuff for an "off-the-rack" dress and its a simple fix. Its a slightly more peachy-pink colour than the photo, but that may just be my monitor, but still a beautiful colour. The only fault in it is that its a number of layer (lining, tule, satin, chiffon), one of which is a tule but it starts just below the hips. I am quite curvy so it shows slightly where it starts if you look closely, so I am just going to have it removed because it doesn't even need it, it will flow stright down without it. However if you don't have a very curvy figure it would be fine. This also may be fixed by trimming it from the hem, easy to do. P.S: One photo is taken with a flash, one without, the full length photo looks a little orange, its not that colour in real life, its still a soft pink dress. By G ,Aug 2010

Let me just note that prior to encountering this website, I've searched for 4 months in multiple malls for a dress suitable but simple for my sister's wedding but was ultimately disappointed because the dresses I liked did not fit my petite figure. PRICING: When I found this dress, I was very happy because even with custom sizing (an extra $29.99) this dress came to $99.99 only. So the total of the dress including shipping was cheaper than a dress that I could find that may not fit me properly. SHIPPING:The dress, since it was custom made, took a little over two months to arrive at my door. It arrived squished in a surprisingly small box, which will most likely require steam ironing before wear. IMPRESSION:I was very pleasantly surprised with the color I had chosen (chocolate brown), the material (a heavier, thicker satin which looks and feels good), the cutting (it had a very nice flare to it), as well as the details (there is an elastic right below the breast to help keep the tube dress up, it was such a small gesture/detail but made the dress so much better) MOBILITY: A very important thing to consider if you were expected to be walking around all day. The dress, with the help of the elastic below the breast, stayed on surprisingly better than most tube dresses I own, and I did not have to fix it very often. It was a very good length to allow for me to carry a lot of things around, and as it was made of a heavier/thick satin material, did not get stuck on anything at all. IMPROVEMENT:The only fault, if any, was that the cup they had inserted into the dress was too big for my breasts. The fit was still snug but the cup was not at all the same shape/size as my breasts and, to me, looked a bit odd. I've included the picture of it from the side. OVERALL: I was very pleased with the dress still, and it received quite a bit of compliments that night! A tip for custom sizing - I had wanted the dress to be a perfect fit, and because I have a petite figure, I know how easy it would be for dresses to look big on me. I had actually subtracted half an inch~an inch or so from my real measurements and submitted those. The end result was very good, and you can see that in the picture I've attached. Ordered this dress last year for our work's Christmas ball in the shown colour - couldn't believe the quality of the dress and the detail on it when it got here. It fitted absolutely perfectly, as I had ordered it on the made to measure service as I am unusual proportions because of my job and taller than most. Fortunately I did cheat and add a couple of extra inches around the hips, which was useful as it gave me a bit more play in the dress when it came to sitting down! The dress proved very popular with my colleagues, with many of them telling me they wanted to borrow it in future years!!! For anyone considering this dress, I would heartily recommend it if you want the added wow factor, and I would definitley use this service again - just be aware of the additional import tax bill that follows from DHL a month or so later than delivery (think I had to pay about £20 - can't remember exactly but was no more than that). I got seven of these for my bridesmaids in GREEN. It is darker than the picture, and the rhinestones on the straps are big and there are a ton of them. We ended up taking all of them off and sewing the rhinestones on the waist to make some definition. The skirt is shorter than the picture, and the bodice is too long to be empire and too short to go down to the waist. Still, they turned out pretty and looked great. ok, so THANK GOD my friend had already ordered a dress from here for her wedding and was able to "vouch" for this site and their quality. I was all set to order from one of the competitor's site (the "imposter" sites, apparently) but was nervous because they had VERY few reviews there. So about hohotrade.com I can confidently say they are AWESOME. You always hear "if it sounds to good to be true it usually is" and I was warned by may that if the dresses were this cheap there "must be something wrong with them." I can say, NOPE and NOPE. I ordered my dresses (yes, ES. At this price I ordered a ceremony AND a reception dress) on Friday, May 28th, think I finalized the oder around 9:30 pm. I recieved them yesterday (June 10th). Amazing! So about this dress specifically. It is kind of hard to imagine as Ivory because of the colors of the sample photographed, so I photoshopped it (see photo) before ordering. I read alot about the dresses being a little big in the bust, so I took a chance and ordered a size DOWN. (a 6. Risky, I know) I am sooo glad to report that while snug, it fits! Pretty sure I would have had it taken in if I had ordered the 8. So I think even after I drop a few lbs, it will still fit without having to be altered. The only thing I will need to do (unless I wear reeeealy high platform heels) is take about 3-5" off the length. I am fairly short though (5'4") so you tall gals should be fine. The satin they use is as advertised, it is a nice heavyweight beautiful "bridal" satin. It isn't thing or cheap looking AT ALL (it is seriously like what you'd get from David's, Alfred Angelo, most designer boutiques, etc). The tulle is also nice and fairly soft (not like the scratchy vintage tulle) AND all of the dresses are FULLY lined, so your legs will never have to feel the tulle (and pantyhose, if worn, won't snag on it). I personally don't feel like this dress needs any more petticoats or a hoop skirt, but I guess that's up to you. (It already has like 3 layers under the satin). A couple things to note: 1. The sash shown is sewn into the dress! It isn't pictured this way, but it is. not a big deal, but I was considering using a colored sash, so it just slightly complicated things (I can remove the bow and tie another sash over the existing if I reeeeeally think I need/want it). 2. The black flower's on the top of the bodice are really cheezy and look a little cheap. I will totally be removing them (but then, I knew this before I even ordered). They are strange, and look out of place. But then, they did on the original (Vera) as well. oh, and shipping/packaging. It'll arrive in a smaller box than you'd think. However, they are packing genius's, the dresses come out with very few wrinkles. I ordered 2 dresses, a veil, a shrug, hairpins, headband, and a feather headpiece thing and it shipped in a box approx 20" x 12" 12". The shipping was ridiculously fast. It shipped either Mon the 7th or Tues the 8th (says one thing one place, another another place) and arrive the 10th. SERIOUSLY. A M A Z I N G. Now I can't say that is always goes down like this, but it did for me! They sent me a nice pink garmet pag too. Overall I am completely satisfied with the quality and fit of this dress. If it weren't so damn expensive to ship, I'd order from them all the time! An amazing Vera Wang(ish) for less than $250 (shipped) in 2 weeks, that everyone will think was $1-$2K+. Yes please! The entire Light in the Box Experience was great. I was a little nervous because I ordered the dress in champagne only 5 weeks before the wedding. It arrived in 3 weeks, thankfully. The champagne color was beautiful and the quality of the dress amazing... definitely exceeded my expectations. It arrived a small box just like Lauren and Angel described... folded inside out. Counting the toole, satin and inside petticoat there are about 4 layers. I removed the cheap looking embellishments and bow. The size grid was right on and the dress fit perfectly (ordered a size 4), with the exception of the hem. I let the dress hang for a several days and then took a fairly hot iron to get out the creases from shipping. Because of all the layers it cost around $90 for the hem. Overall, a very good value for my dollar. Once the hem, gown, and shipping were all done, the dress cost me around $300. It looks like a $600-$800 dress from a bridal gown store. I didn't add any extra hoop or petticoat beneath the dress because my wedding was a simple outdoor ceremony at a vineyard, so I wasn't going for a full gown. I received many compliments on my dress and could not have been happier. I would highly recommend Light in the Box. They were very responsive when I had email questions and sent email updates. K - so dress arrived yesterday (delivered within 2 weeks, I'm in Quebec, Canada). Very well made, the upper portion has boning in it which is great for support, but the bottom is a but "puffier" than I would have liked. I did not do the custom sizing, but instead ordered a size bigger (as most of the reviewers recommended) and it is quite big on the top. The "pointed" ends are quite long so I'll have to get a few alterations done, to take it in and to shorten it. I took a chance and ordered this beautiful dress on 11th June 2010 and it arrived on my doorstep yesterday, 2nd July. Very quick indeed. It really is utterly amazing how they pack so much into such a small box! I ordered this dress and the recommended petticoat, a ring pillow and a garter, total cost £190. However I also had to pay DHL who delivered the parcel a further £20.89 for Customs and VAT charges, which I was less than happy about yesterday! I emailed hohotrade about it and read up about it on the internet and discovered that not all parcels get charged for duty and VAT at customs so I’m just unlucky that they checked my parcel and added a charge – it is not a charge that LightBox could have foreseen but it’s worth bearing in mind if you make an order, that you may have to pay a little more for your item when you receive it. When I opened the ordinary looking brown box, I found it’s covered in pretty roses inside and my dress was perfectly packaged. I opened the petticoat first, thinking ‘I thought this was supposed to be hooped, it’s so small’ and then it popped open into it’s three hoops and it’s HUGE, I can’t for the life of me fold it back up and it really is very big! The dress came inside out to protect the front and it’s just stunning. I ordered it in ivory and it’s gorgeous. I will attach pictures also. I agree with Angel’s review that the little black flowers on the top of the bodice look a bit cheesy/silly and I’ll probably take them off too. The quality of the dress is fantastic – there is no way anyone would think you paid less than £600, it’s just so well made. The satin is very good quality. I know this because I ordered a dress from China on Ebay from selecting a picture of a dress I liked and got a very poor imitation for my money. The satin on the LightBox dress is a hundred times better than the polyester satin used on the first dress I bought from China on Ebay. The skirt of the dress is very fine netting on top which hangs perfectly over the satin skirt beneath. There are then layers of thick net beneath the satin, to give it it’s shape, and then a lining skirt too. Personally, I won’t be wearing the petticoat as the dress looks much more ethereal without it and is just seriously huge with the petticoat added in. However, if you want to look like a princess and have a large Cinderella style skirt, then the petticoat will be perfect for you as it gives you a really large ball gown shape. To be honest, the petticoat only cost £17, so it was worth ordering it just to see if I needed it. The satin ribbon on the bodice is sewn really well so that the dress holds it’s shape when you wear it. There is also elastic inside the bodice at the back like a bra strap to hold it in place – very clever. The fit is lovely, slightly too big for me on the bodice but I think that’s more because I measured my chest wrong – you really shouldn’t do it yourself! But the waist and hips are just perfect, and I can definitely take it in slightly on my bust – or get a strapless bra, no problem. All in all, if you are worried about the quality you will receive from LightBox, don’t be. They are different to other sites that offer to make dresses for you because the pictures of the dresses you are viewing are owned by them – they are their designs, whereas other people are showing you an image of a dress that does not belong to them and making a dress a little bit different to the picture to avoid copyright – trust me, I learnt the hard way and wasted £100 on a dress that looked nothing like the picture! I was a little apprehencive about ordering my wedding dress off of the internet but I must admit it was a very good choice. I ordered the dress a few months before my wedding because I thought it would take a while to get it but to my susprize it came in only two weeks. I bought this for my Wedding. It was Beautiful!!!! I am one of those low maintenance kind of ladies, and I did not try on a single dress before this one arrived at my door and I was floored, as was my seamstress. I wanted something that was not puffy, elegant and sexy all in one, and definitely found it in this dress. The dress is made of quality material, required very little tailoring eventhough I bought the size that would fit my measurements, and made me feel like a princess. I received my Kate Hudson dress yesterday via UPS. I had it 3 day shipped and it was here in 2! Don't be afraid of the small box it comes in.They take wonderful care in wrapping the dress. IT IS PERFECT! You definitely need to go by the size chart they give you... mine was right on the money. I will not need alterations except at the bottom :) It's beautiful! I looks like it cost WAY more than 250 dollars. The time and attention to detail is definitely shown in the making of this dress. I can't say thank you enough to anyone involved in making this dress! I'm so excited! Don't be afraid to order from this company... you will not be disappointed! The only thing that I noticed is that they did not make it a sweet heart neckline, they just did it straight across, but turns out I like it better that way :) By Ashly, May 2010

I received my dress today! I had it custom measured, so it took about a month to arrive. It's beautiful. The top part is delicately beaded and looks expensive. The bottom has a stiffness to it and has a bit of sheen. I imagine after it's steamed and hung, the stiffness will relax a bit. Thanks LITB! By Nikki, May 2010

Hey, I received the dress yesterday and it is absolutely amazing - it looks exactly like the picture, the back is exactly the same as the picture (for those that were wondering!) The lining is double lined, the first layer is like a cotton material, which i guess is to stop the satin from becoming too static and sticking to your legs, and the second layer is made from satin. I got it made in champagne, and it really is a lovely colour so I would definately recommend it! There is a built in bra in the dress, with a separate 'bra strap' concealed undernearth the strip at the back of the dress and there is also boning inside the bodice, which is perfect for keeping the dress up! I'm eloping to Las Vegas to get married. I needed a simple knee length white dress. I was reluctant to buy online for all the obvious reasons. I spent two months trying to find a dress. So, on May 11th, I decided to order it. I had a back-up dress just in case. I got my dress today. It's perfect. It fits like a glove. It's top quality workmanship. The neckline shows that is kinda heart shaped, but it's not, it goes straight across. That is not a problem it is still beautiful. The belt is not attached and there are no loops, but i'm glad because it looks better without a belt. I am so very pleased with my purchase. The sizing is true. I wear a 16W dress and that is what i ordered. It is not flattering to my figure but i don't have a flattering figure LOL. I have pics. My 6yr old Grandson took them so please excuse.
